Come to the Book Launch of Bodies in the Sun!!
Since the end of last summer, I’ve been building something that means a lot to me. Bodies in the Sun is a coffee table book made from photographs created during the summer of 2025 across Ottawa and beyond. What first began as a fun hobby of capturing my friends living their best gay summer lives became something deeper: a visual meditation on queer embodiment, friendship, and the fleeting intimacy of summer.
Launching this book feels both exciting and vulnerable. It would mean so much to celebrate it with me and many of the people featured in it. If you’ve been wondering whether to come, here are four reasons I’d love to see you there!
1. This Book Was Made From Real Moments
This project began simply by photographing the people and moments around me during one beautiful summer. Friends at the beach, on patios, in parks, by pools, on road trips, and resting in the sun. What emerged from that is a reflection on queer life in Ottawa and beyond, and the ways we create belonging for each other.
You won’t just be attending a book launch, you’re stepping into the world that helped create this book!
2. You’ll Get to See the Work Beyond the Page
The photobook will be available for purchase during the event, and select photographs from Bodies in the Sun will also be displayed as prints throughout the evening.
Some images feel different when they’re on a wall, larger, and given room to breathe. I’m excited for people to experience the work in both forms: within the pages of the book and hanging on the walls.
If you’d like to pre-order the book or purchase select prints, you can do so here: Bodies In The Sun Photobook & Limited Prints.
3. Your Support Also Helps Out at Camp
For every book purchased, $5 will be donated to Out at Camp, an organization close to my heart that creates safe, inclusive, and diverse outdoor experiences where all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can feel welcomed, valued, and free to be themselves.
Supporting the book also means supporting queer community in a meaningful way.
4. I Really Just Want a Warm, Fun Night With Good People
More than anything, I want this evening to feel like a gathering. Drinks, light food, conversation, music, laughter, reconnecting with people, introducing friends to one another, and celebrating together and celebrating the coming of summer.
If you know me, you know community matters deeply to me. I’d love a room full of people who have crossed paths with me in some way and helped shape this collection of photographs.
So whether you buy a book, bring a friend, stay for one drink, or just stop by to say hi, please know I would genuinely appreciate it.
